This Weekends Premier League Tips
After the Third Round of the FA Cup took place last weekend the Premier League returns this weekend in what should be another excellent week of football. The fixture of the weekend features the inform Manchester United and Southampton at Old Trafford on Sunday in what should be a cracking match with plenty of goals however it’s not a great match from a betting perspective. As always I’ve previewed my best bets of the weekend below, let’s hope for two out two winners once again.
Leicester v Aston Villa
Two out of form sides meet up on Saturday as Leicester host Aston Villa in an important match for both sides. Leicester City are bottom of the table on just fourteen points but they are now unbeaten in three after a draw at Anfield and victories against Hull City and Newcastle United. On the other hand Aston Villa are 12th in the table on 22 points however they’ve gone five Premier League matches without a win and Paul Lambert’s side have score just two goals in those five games. Villa have only scored eleven goals in the Premier League all season, they are really struggling to find the back of the net. A failure to win on Saturday can cause Villa problems as they face Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea in their next three matches. Leicester City are not prolific either, they have scored just 19 goals this season and they’ve failed to score at home on three occasions.
So what is the recommended bet? We’ve established that neither side are very good going forward therefore I’m happy to back 0-0 at 15/2. This may seem like a long shot however I think it has a realistic chance of winning, Villa have been involved in four 0-0’s this season and two of those have come recently, 15/2 is a generous price in my opinion.
Chelsea v Newcastle
Top of the table Chelsea have lost ground in recent weeks and are now level on points with the current Premier League champions Manchester City who are second due to the alphabetical order. On Saturday Chelsea face the manageress Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge in what is expected to be a one sided affair and I can see no other result but a Chelsea win however odds of 1/5 aren’t tempting in the slightest, therefore I’ve had a look around for a bet which is far more appealing. Jose Mourinho’s side are 10/11 to win to nil which is a superb bet in my opinion and the stats back this up. Chelsea have played nine matches in the Premier League this season at Stamford Bridge and they’ve won seven of those to nil which suggests 10/11 is a great bet. I think it’s also worth noting that Newcastle are far from prolific, Papiss Cisse is their top Goalscorer and he’s suspended, this means Riviere may lead the line and he’s yet to score a goal for Newcastle.
