After backing Raonic in the last round I am keen to oppose the Canadian who plays seven time Wimbledon Champion Roger Federer, this match can be viewed live from your computer on Bet365. Raonic does not have the return game to hurt Federer in my opinion and will have to serve very well if he is to have a chance. Raonic has actually lost in the 2nd round of Wimbledon in each of his last three visits before this year and a favourable draw has allowed him to progress to the semi-finals, Raonic has only played against one player ranked inside the top 70 so far.
In Halle just a few weeks ago Raonic lost against Gojowczyk whilst being priced at 1.12 with Bet365, the match was played on grass which does shows us that he is not entirely comfortably on the surface. Over the last few years he has lost against the likes of Sijsling, Dodig, Monfils, Becker, Querrey, and Petzschner whilst being the favourite on grass which again shows us it is not his strongest surface.
Federer on the other hand loves Wimbledon and Grass courts, he regards it as his best surface. Federer has won 87.4% of his grass court matches in his career including 14 titles on the surface. He comes into this match in superb form after winning the title in Halle just a few weeks ago. Roger has managed to carry that form into this week where he managed to win his opening four games in straight sets. In the previous round he faced Stan Wawrinka who he is good friends with, after losing the opening set Federer upped his game as all top players do to win the match comfortably in four sets.
So what is the recommended bet? Federer is the 1.33 favourite whilst that is a decent price it isn’t going to return us a decent amount of money. So I advise you back Federer to win the match in straight sets which is priced at a very fair 2.5. Roger has won four of his last six matches at Wimbledon in straight sets.
