Premier League Betting Tips – Week 10
There was Capital Cup football on during the week although only ten Premier League teams were involved in the fourth round as the remainder had already been knocked out. Premier League title favourites Chelsea just scraped past League Two Shrewsbury Town due to a late own goal and Liverpool returned to winning ways thanks to a 95th minute winner from Dejan Lovren, Mario Balotelli scored Liverpool’s only other goal, it was the Italians second goal for the club since arriving in the Summer. Anyway onto the Premier League, we’re in for a great weekend of football as we have the Manchester derby to look forward to on Sunday as well as some other enticing fixtures.
Chelsea v QPR
After conceding a last minute goal against Manchester United on Sunday Chelsea will be looking to get back to winning ways against QPR who won their second game of the season on Monday against Aston Villa. QPR were not entirely convincing but Villa created very few clear cut opportunities which allowed them to keep just their second clean sheet of the season. Chelsea haven’t been great defensively this campaign either but i’m expecting a clean sheet from them this weekend as QPR will almost certainly sit back and play for the draw. Chelsea have won to nil in three of their four games at home this season and i’d expect that to be the case again. In Chelsea’s last seven meetings with QPR they’ve conceded just three goals. Harry Redknapp’s side have not been scoring many either, they’ve only scored eight goals this season, only Villa and Burnley have scored fewer. Finally Chelsea will almost certainly win this game as they’re a far the better side especially with Diego Costa likely to return up front for Jose’s side.
Manchester City v Manchester United
We are in for a treat this weekend as Manchester City face Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium. Pellegrini’s side will be looking to bounce back after losing against West ham last weekend, they certainly can’t afford to lose anymore ground on Chelsea. Manchester United on the other hand will be full of confidence after they scored a late equalizer against Chelsea on Sunday afternoon, thus giving the fans new belief in their side. Captain Wayne Rooney and Radamel Falcao are expected to return for this fixture which is a big boost for Louis Van Gaal. Manchester City have no new injury concerns ahead of this vital game which means everything to their fans. City have won their last three matches against Man United and this is a run I expect to continue, they’re simply the better side with a better squad. Aguero is in top form which will worry Louis Van Gaal as his sides defence has struggled this season, they have kept just two clean sheets. This is a must win game for Manchester City and it’s the only result they’ll be happy with in my opinion.
