Premier League Preview
There are some excellent games taking place this weekend and five of them are being televised which is brilliant news for us football fans. The first of those televised games features Tottenham and Arsenal in what should be a cracking North London derby. The Merseyside derby also takes place on Saturday as Everton host the inform Liverpool. There are plenty of other enticing games taking place, all in all we’re in for another entertaining weekend of Premier League football.
Aston Villa v Chelsea
On Saturday Aston Villa host the Premier League leaders Chelsea. Villa are in absolutely woeful form, they’ve picked up 12 points in their last 19 matches. They’re 3 point clear of the relegation zone and are without a doubt relegation candidates, they need to start picking up points quickly. Aston Villa’s issues have been going forward, they’ve only scored eleven goals this season, that’s nine less than any other Premier League side. The signings of Carles Gil and Scott Sinclair in January should benefit Aston Villa going forward although we’re yet to see if it will.
On the other hand Chelsea are having an excellent season, they’re five points clear at the top of the table and have only lost two games all season, there’s only one winner of this match isn’t there? Aston Villa’s confidence must be at rock bottom, they’ve become the laughing stocks of the Premier League and I wouldn’t like to back them to score in any game. Of Aston Villa’s 19 games this season they’ve lost ten of them to nil and I’m happy to back this to happen again at evens against the best side in the league. Finally at Stamford Bridge earlier this season Chelsea beat Aston Villa 3-0 and I expect a similar score line this time around.

West Ham United v Manchester United
The final match of the weekend takes place at Upton Park where West Ham United face Manchester United. West Ham have had an excellent season thus far, they’re 8th in the table and are only seven points behind todays opponents. Man United are 3rd in the table and a top four finish would be a good result after they failed to qualify for the Champions League last campaign. Louis Van Gaal’s side come into this match in pretty poor form, they’ve only won two of their last five matches and they may struggle against a physical West Ham side.
West Ham have been solid at Upton Park this season, they’ve only lost three of their twelve home matches, and they have beat Liverpool and Manchester City at home. Thus suggesting that they are more than capable of getting a result against United on Sunday. Finally I think it’s also worth noting that Manchester United have only won 27.27% of their away matches this campaign, therefore this is a very generous price in my opinion.
