Premier League Preview
The Premier League returns this weekend as ten matches take place from Saturday to Monday after the FA Cup Quarter Finals took place last weekend. There are some excellent Premier League matches occurring and I’ve previewed two of the better games below as well as adding a couple of bets that stood out to me.
Arsenal v West Ham
Arsenal host their 14th game of the Premier League season on Saturday as they face West Ham United in one of the 3pm kick offs. Arsenal sit in third position in the table and I fully expect them to finish there given the quality of their squad. They have won seven of their last eight Premier League games although they have had a relatively easy run of fixtures.
On the other hand West Ham are on a poor run, they have gone seven matches without a win and they’ve conceded 13 goals in this period of time whilst only scoring four, however it should be noted that they’ve had some tough fixtures. In their last seven games they’ve faced Chelsea, Man United, Liverpool, Tottenham and Southampton.
My recommended bet for this match is both teams to score at a generous price of 1.9 offered by Betway. Both teams have scored in 77% of West Ham’s away matches this season and that’s not surprising given how strong they are going forward. Arsenal are also incredibly strong in front of goal, they’ve scored 30 goals at home already this season, that is more than any other Premier League side. Finally both teams have scored in 60% of Arsenal’s games this campaign and I think there is every chance that both teams will score in this match.

Sunderland v Aston Villa
Sunderland face Aston Villa at the Stadium of Light on Saturday, in what is a crucial game for both sides and the teams around them. Sunderland are 16th in the Premier League table and are just one point ahead of today’s opponents Aston Villa who are in 17th position. Gus Poyet’s side are in really poor form, they’ve won one of their last eleven Premier League matches and that victory came against strugglers Burnley.
On the other hand Aston Villa have recently appointed Tim Sherwood as their new manager and he appears to have restored the confidence of the Villa squad. Villa won both of the matches they played last week and that included a FA Cup Quarter Final tie against West Brom. The likes of Tom Cleverley, Charles N’Zogbia, Matthew Lowton, Scott Sinclair and Gabriel Agbonlahor were all underperforming under Paul Lambert and Tim Sherwood appears to have motivated all of them!
Given how Aston Villa’s performances have improved dramatically under Tim Sherwood, I’m surprised they can be backed to win this game at odds of 3.6. I’m even more surprised that Villa can be backed to win to nil at odds of 5.5. Sunderland have only scored one goal in their last five matches and they have lost to nil against QPR and Bradford recently.
