Premier League Betting Tips New Years Day
Firstly I hope you’ve all had a good new year and hopefully I can land you a couple of winners to ease those hangovers. On Sunday both recommended bets won as Danny Welbeck scored for Arsenal which was advised at 2/1 and both teams scored in the match which took place at Saint Mary’s Stadium, landing us an 11/10 winner. Anyway onto the New Year’s Day fixtures as we are treated to Ten Premier League matches and three of those will be televised.
Stoke City v Manchester United
The opening game of the day features Stoke City and Manchester United, this match will take place at the Britannia Stadium and can be watched on Sky Sports from 12:45pm. Both sides have had relatively good seasons so far, Manchester United are third in the table and a top four finish has to be the aim this campaign. On the other hand Stoke City are 11th in the Premier League table after consecutive wins against Everton and more recently West Brom.
Unsurprisingly Louis Van Gaal’s Manchester United side are the 20/21 favourites to win this match which is a generous price in my opinion. The Britannia Stadium is supposedly a tough place to go and win however that’s a bit of a myth. Stoke City have won just one of their last 16 matches when hosting top three finishers which suggests that Manchester United are more than capable of winning this match as they’re a top three side in my opinion, especially with the likes of Wayne Rooney, Robin Van Persie and Radamel Falcao fit.
Tottenham v Chelsea
The final match on Thursday takes place at White Hart Lane as Tottenham host the title favourites Chelsea. After a superb start to the season Chelsea have dropped points on a few occasions away from home recently, they’ve won just one of their last four away matches dropping points against Sunderland, Newcastle and Southampton. If Chelsea are to remain three points clear at the top of the table they’ll inevitably need to win this match as Manchester City are expected to beat Sunderland at the Etihad Stadium. Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham side stand in Chelsea’s way and they’ve found some form over the Christmas period, Tottenham have won four of their last five matches and have no injury concerns which is remarkable at this stage of the season.
This should be a very competitive match although I do think Chelsea take the three points, however the bet I like the look of most is both teams to score at odds of 10/11. In Chelsea’s ten away matches this season both teams have scored on eight occasions which immediately suggests that this is a superb bet. Tottenham are poor defensively and their performance against Manchester United on Sunday backs this up as United had several good opportunities to score.
