Premier League Betting Tips Week 12 – Weekend 22nd November 2014
England won once against during the International break to record a fourth successive victory in Group E, thus meaning Roy Hodgson’s side are now six points clear at the top of the group and will almost certainly qualify for the Euro 2016 championships. Anyway onto this weeks Premier League action where the game of the weekend features Arsenal and Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium, it should be a cracker! Chelsea appear to be running away with the Premier League title currently and they have a very winnable match against West Brom at Stamford Bridge on Saturday however many of their team are returning from international action.
Crystal Palace v Liverpool
Televised on Sky Sports on Sunday is Crystal Palace vs Liverpool which is taking place at Selhurst Park. Palace lost their manager Tony Pulis just before the start of the Premier League season which was a huge blow for The Eagles, the board opted to replace him with Neil Warnock which was not a popular decision with the fans. Palace are looking to build on last seasons 11th place finish however they have struggled to do that and sit 17th in the table on just nine points. Despite this they’ve looked very promising going forward, they’ve scored 14 goals and have scored in eight of their eleven matches this season. Crystal Palace can certainly trouble a fragile Liverpool defence in my opinion.
Liverpool have had a woeful start to their season largely due to some poor recruitment after the sale Luis Suarez in the Summer. They’re 11th in the table and are already 15 points behind top of the table Chelsea. Defensively Brendan Rodgers’s side were poor last season but the goals they scored led to a second place finish, they’ve failed to score as many this campaign and have worryingly conceded more than they have scored so far this campaign.
I really like the price of over 2.5 goals in this match at odds of 1.95, both sides are defensively weak and like to attack. This was not the case for Crystal Palace last season but under Neil Warnock they look more of a threat going forward.
Aston Villa v Southampton
Monday night football features the out of form Aston Villa and the in form Southampton. Villa started the season well but have now gone seven without a win whilst Southampton have won five in a row and are flourishing under the management of Ronald Koeman. I do expect Southampton to continue that run of form against a Villa side that are without their two best players Fabian Delph and Christian Benteke but I can’t back the Saints at 1.8, the price appears to be on the short side.
Given that I don’t want to back Southampton at odds of 1.8, I’ve looked into a few markets and Southampton win to nil at 2.88 was tempting however I think i’ve found a better bet. The man of the match market got my attention and Graziano Pelle was a player I really wanted to back after a superb start to the season. He’s already scored nine goals this season as well as assisting two for teamates, this shows how influential he has been since arriving at Southampton. Pelle has even been awarded his first Italy cap recently which suggests he’s the real deal, 8/1 is a cracking price!
